If it is beautiful breath taking scenery and wildlife you want then this is the tour to take. Lake Huvsgul is the second largest freshwater lake in Asia. Its water is so pure it is potable without treatment. Wildlife is abundant and includes Ibex, Argali, Elk, Wolf, Wolverine, Musk Deer, Brown Bear, Siberian Moose and Sable as well as an abundance of various bird species. The bonus to this trip is that the drive there will go through Kharakorum (the old capitol of the 13th century Mongolian Empire). We will also visit White Lake and the nearby extinct volcano. This area has plenty to explore. Horseback riding and visiting nomadic families to learn about their ancient culture is also part of the tour. Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Ulaan Baatar and check into hotel or guesthouse. Have lunch in a Mongolia restaurant. Take a city tour including such sights as Gandan monastery, Sukhbaatar Square, and Zaison Memorial. Dinner at Mongolian Nomad’s restaurant . Overnight in hotel.
Day 2: After breakfast drive to Ugii Lake. Lunch on the way. Upon arrival explore the lake and it’s surroundings. Dinner and overnight in ger or tents.
Day 3: After breakfast drive to Kharakorum. Here we will visit Erdene Monastery built on the ruins of the ancient city in 1585. Lunch. Visit a horse breeders family and learn some of the culture of a nomadic family. Opportunity to ride horses and explore the area. Dinner and overnight in ger or tents.
Day 4: After breakfast drive to Tsenker Hot Springs. Picnic lunch and relax in the natural spa and enjoy the therapeutic benefits of these famous springs. Dinner and overnight in ger or tents.
Day 5: After breakfast drive to Tsetserleg. Explore the town and the drive to Taikhar Chuluu Rock. Lunch. Drive to Chuluut River and explore the long canyon, extinct volcano, and White Lake. Dinner and overnight in ger or tents.
Day 6: After breakfast spend the day exploring the White Lake and volcano on foot or by horseback. Lunch. Also have the opportunity to visit with local nomadic families. Overnight in ger or tents.
Day 7: After breakfast begin drive to Huvsgul Lake the ‘dark pearl of Mongolia’ via Jargalant village and Murun City which is the center of Huvsgul province. Dinner and overnight in Dul hotel.
Day 8: After breakfast explore the nearby lake on horseback. Visit a Tsaatan ethnic group family. Lunch. Continue exploring and then back to camp for dinner. Overnight in ger or tents.
Day 9: After breakfast boat or fish in the lake or continue to explore on horseback or foot. Lunch. Continue to enjoy immense beauty. Dinner and overnight in ger or tents.
Day 10: After breakfast transfer to Muruun for flight back to Ulaan Baatar. After arrival back to hotel or guesthouse to clean up and then enjoy an evening of traditional Mongolian song and dance concert. Dinner out and then overnight in hotel.
Day 11: After breakfast transfer for departure.
