ABOUT USand Anju
Susan Griffeth came first to Mongolia in 1997. She originally came as a volunteer for a charitable organization. Susan spent the summer touring the countryside and working with street children at a summer camp. During the last eight years she has coordinated accommodation, transportation, and food for hundreds of volunteers coming to Mongolia. She has organized 9 summer camps for the street children and orphans of Ulaan Baatar. After staying in Mongolia for several years, it became obvious that many poor families need help before their kids end up on the street. Three years ago Susan moved to one of the poorer areas of Ulaan Baatar to live with those in need. This area is called Ulaan Huaran.
Most volunteers that come to Mongolia find their richest experiences working with the people, especially the children. Yet it is important that those that are here to serve also get to see the country, its history, and beauty. Rinky Dink Travel was formed to try to mix the worlds of the tourist and the volunteer. We combine a volunteer experience with a tour of the city, and countryside. Many tour groups ride around in tour buses, stay in fancy hotels, and eat foreign cuisine at restaurants. The tourist leave having little or no understanding about real life in Mongolia. They haven't spent time with Mongolians, eaten Mongolian food, or traveled as a Mongolian would travel. This is unfortunate. This is not the case with Rinky Dink Travel. The families in the ger district of Ulaan Huaran will house you and cook for you. You will live amongst them so you will understand what their lives are like. As you visit Mongolia, we want to provide you a genuine well-rounded experience. As Rinky Dink Travel grows, the families of Ulaan Huaran are provided with an income and their children a future. This is our Goal.
Batjargal was born in the countryside of Mongolia in Zavhan Aimag in 1963. He moved to Ulaan Baatar when he was 8 and finished school. For the majority of his life Mongolia was a communist country and he has a deep understanding of Mongolia's history. During communist times he worked with a team making maps of every countryside province in Mongolia. He has experience driving where there are no roads throughout the entire country. Batjargal has worked with those visiting Mongolia since 1992. He has taken tourists on private tours all over Mongolia. His real love is language. He has studied English for over 15 years, speaks Russian well, and even knows some Kazakh.
Tuvshinjargal has lived and worked in the countryside and the city. She has studied Business Management at Mongolia International University where all of her classes were taught in English. She speaks English and Korean. Tuvshin was an integral part of starting Rinky Dink Travel. She has been a part of the volunteer staff for years.
Today we have a dedicated team of translators, guides, drivers and typical families throughout the country who will be happy to assist you while traveling in Mongolia. Also we have at our disposal all the needed equipment and infrastructure to offer our guest an adequate logistical support.
